The Beatification of Pope John Paul II

I wrote the poem below in celebration of the  Beatification of Pope John Paul II.

The Beatification of Pope John Paul II

On the day of the Beatification of Pope John Paul II,
it was a day of celebration.
Prayers of gratitude could be heard in the churches.
Crowds came from all over the world
to celebrate the life of the Polish Pope
who made it his mission to eradicate
communism and teach the youth the way of peace.

On the day of the Beatification of  Pope John Paul II,
a tyrant fell
and was buried at sea.
Many elated at the news of the tyrant's death and
rushed to the streets to celebrate.
Cheers could be heard at Ground Zero in New York
and outside the White House in Washington
well into the night.
A stark contrast to the day the pope died
when so many stood in St. Petersberg Square in
solemn prayer at a night time vigil.

On the day of the Beatification of Pope John Paul II,
it was a beautiful spring day,
a day of new beginnings,
a day of hope,
it was a day of celebration.
