Firefly

Firefly which looks at Milky Way
"Firefly which looks at Milky Way"/ masahiro miyasaka .

For this week's Big Tent Poetry Promp , we were asked to write a poem about "things in mason jars". I chose to write about fireflies.

Firefly

summer breeze
in the night,
flickers of light
dancing in the sky.

girls dressed in white
catching the little suns
in their mason jars
in their backyard,
Let your light shine on.
Fireflies in the night,
Let your light shine on.

Angel Whispers

For the weekly poetry prompt at Jingle Poetry we were given the words : "music, art, poetry, muse". I chose to write a poem as if an angel was giving me words of encouragement, strength and courage.

May the Force be with you
"May the Force be with you" / Alice PopKorn

Angel Whispers

my heart-
in mouring
for days gone by,
chances not taken,
lives not lived.

Yet,
the birds still sing,
the sun still rises,
horses still gallop across the fields
and your love still lifts my soul.

An Angel whispers quietly...
"Let art, music, and poetry
be your muse.
Let go of all that came before.
Live for today.
Speak your truth.
Live your truth.
Rise above all and
enjoy the blessings of the day,
Oh dear one.
Rise and take strength in knowing
all is well. "

"How can I keep from Singing?" , Enya

Musical inspiration for my poem "Angel Whispers" can be found below .....

Below are the Lyrics-

How Can I Keep From Singing?

Traditional Shaker Hymn
My life goes on in endless song
above earth's lamentations,
I hear the real, though far-off hymn
that hails a new creation.
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear its music ringing,
it sounds an echo in my soul.
How can I keep from singing?
While though the tempest loudly roars, [1]
I hear the truth it liveth.
And though the darkness 'round me close,
songs in the night it giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that rock I'm clinging.
Since love is lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
When tyrants tremble in their fear
and hear their death knell ringing,
when friends rejoice both far and near
how can I keep from singing?
In prison cell and dungeon vile
our thoughts to them are winging,
when friends by shame are undefiled
how can I keep from singing?

Monday Photo Poetry Prompt at Mag Pie Tales : In my dreams

For the Monday Photo Poetry Prompt at Mag Pie Tales  we were given the photo below...

title/photographer unknown

I chose to write a poem where the content in the photo above is seen in a dream. The poem is as follows...

In my dreams

As I lay here in
the garden sleeping
In my dreams
I see a mirage of colors
-red,
blue,
 green,
white,
and gold
- dancing to and fro,
back and forth,
and back and forth again ,
in rhythm
to a symphony
being played
from within the house
next door.

The music travelling out their window,
through the garden,
and into my dreams is

A soothing, relaxing melody,
that brings me peace,
relaxes my limbs,
and forms a smile on my lips.

Oh, how I wish this sweet serenity
could be with me always.

The music I was listening to while writing the poem can be found below...

One Stop Poetry's Sunday Poetry Prompt Challenge: A Window's View

For today's One Stop Poetry's Sunday Photo Prompt Challenge  we were given a photo by the documentary photographer, Greg Laychack , of an elderly women in a wheelchair passing by a window and were asked to write a poem about it.

I chose to write a poem written in the voice of the elderly lady in the photo. The poem is as follows...

A Window's View

Passing by a window
I see the flowers of spring
all in bloom.

I recall the agility of my youth,
the lightness of being,
 the freedom of my soul,
the joy possessed in my heart,
an afternoon spent
twirling around and laughing
as I blew bubbles and watched them
fly to the heavens with the wind.

Many years have passed since that day.
Soon I too will fly to the heavens,
but the freedom of that day still remains.
After all I still have my free will
and a strong-willed spirit, wheel chair and all.

May all remember the freedom of youth and
carry it with them wherever they go,  as I have,
It is a blessing I wish for all of you on this Easter morning.

Happy Easter!

Flamingos and a duck

Flamingos and one duck make an unlikely friendship.
Still wondering what was going on in the duck's head at the time.

Laying in the Mud

Saw this dog enjoying the mud after we visited the horses.
Hope my dog, Max, does not get jealous because I posted this.
I'll post pictures of him soon.
