She goes searching
through the forest and meadows
for the self she left behind
during the storms and floods
of yesteryear...
and during the times her choices
led her astray
so long ago...
along the twists and turns
her journey takes her
to a columned room
with an ornate doorway...
When opened, there lies
only a box of memories.
After pausing for a moment
to look at its contents,
She takes it with her,
along with her hopes and dreams,
and chooses to continue along her path
knowing that her past has molded her present,
and that the self that was is no more.
It can never be found,
because it is an ever- evolving spirit
that continues to grow and evolve
with her, every passing day.
