People of Chilmark, Thomas Hart Benton, 1920 for Magpie #73
In the twisted river of thoughts,
Instinct has gathered its strength over Logic.
The poet's whim is no longer resisted.
For Intuition has galloped its way out of the woods
and Imagination flutters about buzzing of worlds not yet seen.
The poet respects the process and picks up her pen.
The words and images of the poem soon
flow onto the page.
