The Choice

It wasn't the taste of Eve's apple
lingering in his mouth
 that brought him to his decision
nor was it the idealism of his youth
-it was love.

 His love of adventure,
 his love of people,
his desire to help others in need
all led to his choice
to go on that fateful trip to Africa
 with his fellow classmates.

On that trip,
he realized it was time
 to say goodbye to his old ways
because in his heart
there was a stirring
of new and endearing ways of being.
His life, he decided,
will be one of service
and so it was.
